kieran's 67 high top
The only history I have is what I suppose is a log book from the 70s pretty cool have loads of pages with names and postage style stamps( maybe mot,s). The writing is in German but the van came from Austria. Will confirm and give you more details when my sister comes home (April), you see she lives in Germany as a translator ( pretty handy for a VW addict). The bus is 1967 high roof conversion with windows and pop tops in the roof, she has an original 1500 single port engine, 12 volt. There is no interior at present but will be done out tastefully when bodywork is sorted. She was a possible fire/ crew bus but still need to confirm. Some pictures enclosed of when I picked her up and the logbook picture page. Will send you pictures of all the rusty bits. I have been at her with my grinder it was great fun
UPDATE 05 APR 03
More pictures after cutting out all the rust on the chassis this is what I was left with. Going to buy chassis sections for Schofields next week. Notice the previous repairs not so good made from angle iron nice!
Started stripping body today my arm is killing me, could I have done a with grit blaster?
Managed to get the rest of the lower nearside section done today as per picture. The wind and rain was well at it today I have a large garage but it is open at one end so as not to take over all the garden but I think I've managed to do that anyway. I want to get all the paint off the bottom to see what panels I need it is pretty good apart from the old repairs. For some reason it had filler halfway up the sides so outcome the grinder and off came about 4 tubs of filler( as you can see all is well apart from bottom 6 inches). I am still looking at compressors I think I will be spraying myself I have never done it before but I'd never welded before but managed to do one side of my bay last year so practice makes perfect and the money is an issue so more more more DIY is required but you and your dad know all about that.
