arron's 59 delux

I have owned this bus for 3 years now and It is now stripped down to a bare shell for a full nut and bolt resto. Some Porsche running gear which I have sourced already. 2.0 or 2.1 motor will be going in for some fun on the strip also narrowed front axle to be fitted. Both side panels are going to be removed and replaced with Creative ones which Im going to modify slightly so they are exactly like the originals. Although it doesn't have the semaphores it was built November 1959. Chassis number to follow. I will also forward more pictures as I progress.

UPDATE 07 Dec 02

The bus was built November 1959 and delivered to Sweden where it spent most of its life. I imported it about three and a half years ago. Now in my hands I have spent some time collecting parts for the van and also deciding what I wanted to do with it. Now I am ready to start and have had the whole underneath blast cleaned. I have started to rebuild all of the chassis the cargo floor is out. For future plans well, I am going for full performance large street motor street gearbox and uprated running gear the works. This is the bus I have always wanted and now I have it,It will get everything that I want for it even if it takes me longer to get it right. I am a serious perfectionist almost to far and I am going for a full on hard as nails show bus I will show it for a year and then just drive it and enjoy it to the full.

UPDATE 25 Jan 03

The bus has been to Gosport to have the rest of the shell blasted back to bare metal and what a job that was praying that it would not rain on my return even though it had been zinc primered . With it safe in the garage the body has been fully braced so that it will limit any movement when the panels are cut out. The pictures show the start of the chassis welding and also a picture of a chassis closing panel handmade by me at work (note the cross member has yet to be replaced in this photo.

I will update this further within the next few weeks I have a target of two years (if money allows) to get this done in time to start a new season on the show circuit.
