71 Westy

Having been without a camper for 2 years and wanting to take the boys camping and to shows, we started to look for a bus. What is unusual at least for me is that we started looking for a bay window, specifically a 68-72 Westfalia. After viewing a couple buses here in the UK, we decided to look farther a field. thesamba.com is always a good place to start and straight away I was able to find a couple of buses I was interested in. I was out bid on the first bus but this lead me to talk with Darren the owner. During this chat I said I had found another bus but Barry, the owner, was not sure about shipping the bus to England. Darren got on the phone and the next thing I was the new owner!

Here is the advert of the bus which was featured on the samba.

Help!!! I need a new home. My current owner is a great guy but he has no time for me, he has two kids and bought a ski boat this year. He says he loves me but he never spends time with me anymore.
When he found me I was basically a rolling shell with old worn out parts. My body is nice but has the usual dents and dings and sags that a typical 36 year old gets. Rust you ask.....Im a California Girl. My owner started off my mechanical restoration with a
Rebuilt 1600 DP and Trans from CB Performance.
A rebuilt Solex German carb from that guy in Texas.
SVDA 34 pict distrib from AirCooled.
Shock absorbers
Brake Calipers, Cyl, Pads and all new brake lines
Brake and Accl cable.
Ignition switch
Found and installed an Orrig Clock
New Starter and generator
Sandblasted the rims and repainted w/ L91 from Wolfsburg West
Michelin Tires
From Bus boys:
BRAKE SERVO (cool), Torsion Arm Set (way cool), Steering Box (very cool), Tie Rods, Drag links, Steering Damp, Steering Coupler, even the high pressure hose for the brake servo : )

My Pop tops were removed, sanded, repaired and painted with Pastel White. They have not been installed as we don't have new pop-top canvas.
The rear luggage rack, not seen in pictures is at the painters shop, but finished.
Front and rear bumpers are in my garage.

My owner has done all this work and now that I am ready to be fine tuned and placed on the road, he has given up on me and moved on to other interests. I think he only loved me when he was rebuilding me. Please take me home ad put me on the road where I belong.
Thanks

Next Step

So with the bus purchased it was just a case of getting it to the port. I was lucky to find a guy named Rick Watson from truckinwatson who took the bus down to the port.. Shipping was sorted through Kingstown Shipping.
