| In January 1999 we bought
our 1954 Standard. The bus is originally from Sweden and is a 233 model
which mean it is LHD and has loading doors on the left. The bus left the
factory on 18.02.1954. and was painted in grey primer. Before starting the
resto we cleaned out the bus and found an owners plate, which were very
common on vehicles from those days. It says that the owners name is Karl
Thorstensson , and he lives in Arvika a small village in the so called Värmland,
a part of Sweden that is side by side to Southern Norway. Orvangs bilförsäljning
means Orvangs (just a silly name) car sales, BRF - Bilverkstädernas RiksFörbund
means Swedish Repair Shops Union, and Auktoriserad service means just
Authorised service...
As you can see from the pictures the bus has had a
lot of work carried out during the time we have owned it. This includes
inner and outer front valance, both doglegs, new cab divider, both inner
and outer sills, cross members, outriggers, jacking points, cab doors,
loading doors etc etc.

A
lot of people would have walked away from this bus, but it had it's good
points like the gutters and front window surrounds which are perfect. We
were looking for a challenge, to bring something back from the dead and we
have certainly made progress. As the next couple pictures show, the bus on
the outside it a complete shell. We still need to do the bottom of the
rear corners, both the cab and rear compartment floors need welding in and
at present we are fitting i.r.s. to the rear of the bus.

LATEST
UPDATE - 18/04/04 As you can see since the
last pics all the running gear has been removed and the roof/front panel
have been sprayed with a coat of zinc primer. Lots of localized repairs
have been done. Work has stopped whilst we work on the 1965 SC.
